How to Choose the Right Custom Mug for Your Organization
It’s that time of year again! Students are returning to school, fall is upon us, and we are starting to think about cozying up with a warm beverage. It’s also getting close to National Coffee Day on September 29th! That got us thinking about ethically sourced coffee mugs. Custom printed mugs make a great gift, but they are also one of the best ways to share your mission with the world. According to the Advertising Specialty Institute, one mug can have over 1,400 impressions in its lifetime. More than just a vessel for your pumpkin spice latte, mugs are also a great source of useful and inexpensive advertising.
Choosing the right coffee mug can be a very personal decision. With so many options, what’s the best way to make sure you get the right mug for your organization? Follow along for some tips.
Consider Shipping Weight
Mugs range in materials, sizes, and weights. Considering that your mug order will ship from the factory to your headquarters, shipping cost will increase if you purchase heavier mugs. Stoneware mugs are the heaviest – tipping the scales at over a pound each! Ceramic mugs can weigh anywhere from half a pound to a pound each, and lighter-weight plastic travel mugs weigh significantly less.
For the Commuters
What is your vision for the custom printed mugs? Will they be filled to the brim with steaming hot coffee ready for an in-office chat or meeting? Do you hope they will become a daily staple for your employee’s commute to work? Or will they be enjoyed at home with some hot cocoa on a cold night? There’s a mug for every occasion.
Hand Wash Only
Most mugs are top-rack dishwasher-safe, but occasionally some mugs will require hand-washing. If this rubs you the wrong way, make sure to tell your Account Manager that you are looking for dishwasher-safe mugs.
Think About the Environment
Though we source 30% recycled plastic mugs, it’s good to have some other eco-friendly options. Our Corn Mug is made with corn plastic that’s biodegradable in commercial composters. Mugs tend to be something that people hold on to (literally!) for a long time, so either way, it’s good to know that your product will be used again and again – and may even replace hundreds of disposable products over their lifetime.
It’s Not All Black and White: How Colorful Is Your Design?
Another thing to consider is how colorful you want your mug to be. But remember, the more color, usually the heftier the price. If you are on a tight budget, a one-color imprint would be the least expensive option. Looking to make your brand pop and increase those impressions? Go with a full-color digital imprint, dye sublimation, or select a few complementary brand colors to print on the mug.
